The Rip Curl Pro Tofino is Canada’s largest surfing competition and the only one in Canada open to all divisions. It was sanctioned this year as the Canadian National Championships for the first time. The competition went down on June 1st-2nd at beautiful Cox Bay in Tofino, BC. We were thrilled to make karenjess trophy necklaces for the second time for the women’s division!
We beachcombed shells from Cox Bay and held a social media contest to choose the winning shell, which was then casted in bronze for the female winners of the Pro. It is a special keepsake that is special to the women and that they can wear with pride! We see the girls all around Tofino wearing their necklaces, which is a huge milestone for us as a brand! “TDB insert quote from one of the competitors”.
Our partnership with Rip Curl Canada has been an amazing opportunity to connect with our local surf culture and build our brand awareness. “We chose to partner with Karenjess on a unique trophy piece for the Women’s divisions at the Rip Curl Pro Tofino for a few reasons. The first is the event is very connected to the place, and Karen was able to create something using a shell found in Tofino which connects the event very well. Karenjess is also is from the coast and the beach, like Rip Curl the brand finds itself on the shores of the west coast. Lastly we like working with them,” says Myrosha Daley, Rip Curl Canada Marketing Manager.
Excited for next year, with dreams of moving into other surf competition markets outside of Canada!
