#shelloutforkarenjess indiegogo campaign – that’s a wrap!


We have channeled our love for the ocean and passion for the sea and sand into karenjess and we needed a little kickstart to help fund our growth. We launched an indiegogo campaign “shell out for karenjess” with of objective of building our new ecommerce website, increasing production and building out our current product lines.

“My passion is hands on jewelry design, from collecting shells to creating timeless pieces that captures a sun kissed memory. I brought my twin sister on board to assist with the marketing and business side of the brand,” says Karen Hendry, founder of karenjess. “Indiegogo is a powerful marketing tool and also a great way to our product in the hands of other like-minded people, who are inspired by what we are doing and are interested in helping us grow.”

Our campaign ran for 60 days and wrapped on June 27th. We fell short of our lofty goal but was able to raise $1700 to fund the production of our campaign video, development of our new ecommerce website, as well as paying out our campaign rewards! We were thrilled with the traffic our campaign reached which was 8,000 views and 500 referrals. We also gained amazing exposure through press hits from the North Shore News, Georgia Straight, malayke.com and DISfunkshion.com.

Another thank you to our fav local Vancouver band Hey Ocean! for letting us use their song “Big Blue Wave” and RipCurl Canada and videographer Adam Chilton for the surf shots.
